What has the LiveFutures2020 team got in store for you this year?. We have been planning a feast for the mind! Live Futures 2020 on 13 August 2011 from 10am – 4.30pm at COFA, UNSW Paddington Campus, once again as part of National Science Week and this year the COFA Design Festival – part of Sydney Design 2011.
As most of you will know, COFA Campus is under a major reconstruction, so this year’s festival, most appropriately themed METAMORPHOSIS, is a little more compact than before. We plan to return in full glamour next year in the amazing new space.
Everyone who has been before knows that Live Futures 2020 is always worth a visit and 2011 is no different! Our full program will engage you in a personal metamorphosis. From 10 am on we have speakers, workshops, creation spaces, art, design and film to challenge and inspire you. Just to whet your appetite we have listed some below.
We will start the day with a Keynote by Anthony Baxter from the Google Crisis Response Team. Anthony is a geek who works at Google Australia. Among other things, he works with Google.org’s Crisis Response team on rapid response to disasters. He also tweets @anthonybaxter.
This team has helped out during a number of disasters, for example the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, Christchurch Earthquake, Brazil Floods and Landslides, and the Australia Floods.
Anthony is going to talk about some of the Crisis Response activities, things they’ve learned, and some ways that we can help make the world a better and safer place.
The Social Innovation Sydney Unconference will continue for the day alongside other Live Futures 2020 activities. Register here to attend the Unconference.
FutureStory will be back this year and feature future stories collected over the last year. Come to this space for some inspiration and record your own future story.
The Morphing Sydney Space will discover ‘What could/ should our city be like in the future? What spaces are important to you – CBD, Urban, Local. How are they changing and how do you want them to evolve?” Come join the Centre for Sustainable Leadership and COFA students in morphing the city a collaborative creation experience.
Future Kucha will be back in 2011. We invite people to come along and present for 10 minutes (5 minute presentation and 5 minute discussion) on whatever they want around the future and the theme Metamorphosis – what should/could the future be like, how do you want to be involved, what are you doing to make it happen etc. – you must accompany the talk with 20 – 30 slides / images (no text). It’s one of our most popular events in the day. To register for a presentation slot please email email@example.com with your presentation.
Live Futumres 2020 will also feature art installations interpreting the Metamorphosis thee, a reflection space, interactive spaces, Scinema, Howtoons Kids Space. Check out the Full Program!
