Everyone is a specialist in something, from your view of the world. Whether it’s creating designs, scenarios, concepts, the future or building computers, working with electronics, in a lab or in the kitchen.
An unconference is an open space where anyone can run a workshop, facilitate a discussion or share a presentation on something they’re an expert in: whether it’s how to solve a problem, something you’ve invented or something you’re just itching to discuss with other like minded people.
Drawing on the BarCamp format, and Unconference is where people interested in a certain topic can attend to either listen to discussions or take part in conversations, or to run workshops.
BarCamp works with people interested in attending the event to arrive in the morning, and to create the day’s program by those wanting to present sticking up the humble post-it note on the wall with the time of their presentation, and the title.
An Unconference, according to BarCamp Sydney “is an intense community event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to participate.”
Using this format, Live Futures 2020 has several Unconferences – FutureCamp and Design Camp.
